Meet the Owners

If anyone is an expert in the history of Billy’s Taphouse, it’s Doug Kalapos. He has been through three restaurant re-brandings and has watched the business evolve over the years. Originally hired as a bartender, Doug was presented with the opportunity to take over the business and tap into its potential. The rest is history. Doug appreciates the tremendous amount of support he gets from Essex residents, especially those within the farming community. The perfect climate and expansive landscape is crucial for crop growing, which in turn enables Billy’s to use locally sourced foods. Doug believes fall harvest brings out the best in Essex, both in appearance and opportunity.
