Canadian Transportation Museum and Heritage Village

6155 Arner Townline, Essex Ontario N0R 1B0 519-776-6909

Local history and our automotive past come alive at the Canadian Transportation Museum and Heritage Village. The 100-acre site houses one of the largest vehicle museums in Ontario and over 20 buildings of local significance dating back to the early 1800s. Check out the fine collection of classic, antique and vintage vehicles, including everything from motorcycles to race cars and roadsters. Don’t miss the one-of-a-kind EMS museum, complete with vehicles, switchboards, sirens and uniforms. Outside, take a walk through Heritage Village, a collection of historic buildings dating from 1820 to 1930. When the time is right, grab a bite to eat at the 50’s Diner inside the museum. The CTMHV event schedule is packed! Watch for cruise-ins, auctions, flea markets, antique car and motorcycle shows, and other themed events.

Meet the Staff

With 10 full-time staff members and an abundance of dedicated volunteers, the Canadian Transportation Museum and Heritage Village (CTMHV) has been a popular stop on the Essex County historical trail for many years. “Everyone who comes through the front doors always wants to come back again,” says Erin O’Brien, the media and event coordinator for the museum. She stresses the importance of volunteer contributions to the museum’s success and is grateful for the abundance of community support the museum receives. The mild climate in our region and the daily stream of friendly visitors create a great working environment at CTMHV.
